PROJECT
Co-owner, David Barton, dreamed of opening a bar & taqueria that made you feel like you were on vacation in Mexico, and he made that happen with the help of co-owners Sebastian and Troy. They were opening the first Guac y Margys location on the Atlanta beltline, and needed a playful and charming visual brand to bring home their ‘fun fiesta’ vibe. After the brand identity was complete, Dani Lou Illustrates has continued working on brand consistency throughout their marketing channels, designing advertising collateral, social media content, apparel, signage, award-winning packaging and promotional items for the Guac y Margys locations.
RESEARCH
David has a prolific background in marketing, and had many creative ideas to draw a devoted customer base into Guac y Margys locations. The main leave-behind is that this brand and company mindset is ‘HAVE FUN,’ which feeds the entire Guac y Margys experience. The team-meets-family mentality runs strong within the leadership, which was a powerful tool during the pandemic. The owners looked to Dani Lou Illustrates to execute and bring to life the vision they had in their heads on everything from branded animated gifs to customized Tac-Go Boxes to direct mail campaigns. Each design aimed to keep things light-hearted, entertaining and enjoyable at every opportunity.
VISUAL ID
A custom Western-style font with a bold, bright personality was created for the Guac y Margys brand.
Vivid colors of lime green and teal were chosen for the brand palette to attract attention and reflect the personality of a beach vacation in Central America.
Witty apparel and promotional designs were created to give a nod to pop culture and create customer loyalty.
Known for their exceptional cocktails, Guac y Margys’ submark is a clever ode to their signature margarita.
