Years ago, Play, LLC sat down with Zoo Atlanta to discuss the possibility of creating the event, Brew at the Zoo. Soon the idea became a reality, and it quickly became the event of the season- pulling in a large crowd and featuring bands, special animal encounters and over 70 brews! Zoo Atlanta was in search of an extra special design to help celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the popular event, so Play worked with Dani Lou Illustrates to create the look and advertising campaign for the year.
RESEARCH
Who doesn’t love a zoo party? The concept driving the event branding was based on old movie posters like “Back to the Future” or “Smokey and the Bandit,” with the illustrated characters being some of Zoo Atlanta’s most beloved tenants joining in on the fun of the night! Deliverables for the event included online and printed advertisements, event merchandise and various marketing collateral.
VISUAL ID
The event sold out. Starting with graphite sketches to create custom characters for the event, Dani Lou Illustrated developed a laid-back gorilla (inspired by the renowned Willie B.), a sax-playing snake and a drum-loving panda to set the tone for the celebration. This animal party was paired with the Zoo Atlanta ‘Brew at the Zoo’ logo and a branded 10th anniversary design to create cohesive event collateral for shirt designs, digital & print ads and signage seen throughout the city of Atlanta.
